3K TWILL · GLOSS
— 04 / The material

Why every shaft
is carbon fiber.

Factory shafts are built to a price, not a standard. Aluminum flexes under load. Plastic locks loosen and slip. We use 3K carbon-fiber twill, injection-molded nylon cam locks, and stainless hardware — because the coil is where the signal lives, and flex is where your target disappears.

Zero flex
3K twill CF is stiffer than aluminum pound-for-pound. No wobble at depth.
40% lighter
A typical complete shaft drops from 14oz factory to 8oz in our builds.
Corrosion-proof
Saltwater, sand, rain. Carbon fiber outlasts anodized aluminum by years.
Precision fit
Every part hand-fitted. No shims, no wrap tape, no "it mostly fits."

What detectorists say.

I've owned every aftermarket shaft made for the Equinox. Steve's is the only one that's rock-solid with zero flex. It makes the detector feel like a $2000 machine, not a $700 one.

MINELAB EQUINOX 800

Ordered the Tall Man lower at 30". Came exactly to spec, no questions, no shims. The build quality is insane — the cam lock alone is better than stock.

EQUINOX 700

The glass-fiber lower eliminated false signals in saltwater that I was getting with aluminum. Worth every penny. Customer service from Steve was top tier.
